China's grid-connected wind power installed capacity increased by 60% year-on-year

The China Electricity Council issued a "A brief analysis of the electric power industry from January to October in 2011," pointing out that by the end of October, the installed capacity of grid-connected wind power in China had reached 39.13 million kilowatts, a net increase of 14.81 million kilowatts from the same period of last year. The growth rate is 60.9%. However, the situation of hydropower generation is severe. Due to the early arrival of the dry season, the energy storage value of the leading reservoirs in major watersheds will be greatly reduced, and the overall hydropower generation will drop significantly this winter.

"Analysis" claimed that from January to October, 6000 kilowatts and above of grid-connected wind power generated 58.25 billion kwh, an increase of 56.87% over the same period last year; in October, 6000 kilowatts and above of grid-connected wind power generated 6.57 billion kwh, an increase of 45.48%.

However, in the completion of the overall power investment, wind power investment has declined. Statistics show that from January to October, the country’s investment in electricity construction reached 533.3 billion yuan, of which 276 billion yuan was invested in power. In the completed power investment, hydropower and nuclear power increased by 25.8% and 26.2% year-on-year, respectively. Thermal power and wind power decreased by 17.9% and 14% respectively year-on-year. The decrease in wind power investment was mainly due to a decrease in investment in some wind power provinces.
