It is understood that the US domestic industry applied to the US Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission on the 21st of last month for a “double-reverse” investigation of multi-layer wood flooring products originating in China, and clearly raised the issue of the RMB exchange rate.

American flooring companies believe that the multi-layer solid wood flooring exported from China to the United States is underpriced, contrary to fair competition, and the RMB exchange rate is undervalued, thus giving Chinese exporters a price advantage and hoping to impose about 195 on multi-layer wooden flooring imported from China. The anti-dumping duty of %-281% is accompanied by countervailing duties to compensate for the adverse effects of China's exchange rate policy.

Yang Meixin, vice president of the China Wood and Wood Products Circulation Association, said that the “double-reverse” from 2007 to 2009, the total amount of products involved in the US exports totaled 340 million US dollars.

According to the association, although only 169 companies were listed in the “double-reverse” survey, the number of flooring companies that may be involved in the final is far more than this number because of customs tax issues.
