China's Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau confirmed on Tuesday that it has rejected the entry of an unapproved genetically modified component in a US corn shipment.

"In the shipment, genetically modified components that have not been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture will be processed in accordance with the relevant regulations," an official from the Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau told Reuters, confirming Reuters' earlier report.

The official refused to specify the buyer of the cargo, but said that the unlicensed transgenic line was MOM89034.
