In cooperation with top universities and high-tech companies, soft robots and extensible electronic products have become a reality. The research team of Purdue University recently claimed that they have found the right mass production process to produce such products. This method uses an inkjet printer loaded with a liquid metal alloy to print out the circuit.
Rebecca Kramer, one of the research experts responsible for the project, said: “This production process ... allows us to print flexible and ductile circuits on anything (including malleable metals and fabrics.) Made of liquid metal, it can be stretched, folded, squeezed, etc. without damage.
They call this technique "mechanically sintered helium-indium nanoparticles" because they need to be converted into nanometer examples before they can be used as ink. These printed circuits can be attached to the surface of everything as a "skin."
