Russian-shaped combat robots will learn to run and cross obstacles before the end of the year

According to the Russian satellite network, the head of Russia's "Future Research Foundation" (FPI) Andrei Grigoryev recently said that humanoid combat robots developed by Russian scientists will learn to run and overcome obstacles by the end of 2015.

According to the report, Grigoryev said: "The combat robot looks similar to people. According to our plan, it should learn to run, cross obstacles and complete other actions before the end of the year. It is planned to be used in a particularly dangerous environment. The situation where people are required to be present can be remotely controlled. The purpose is to enable people to be in a normal environment, and the work in the danger zone is carried out by the robot."

Grigoryev said that the robot can be used for mine clearance and other dangerous tasks that do not require special fine operations (the Foundation does not give detailed information). He pointed out that the robot was not designed to carry submachine guns, and mission-like crawler and wheeled robots performed very well.

It is reported that the "Future Research Foundation" was established in 2012 and functions similarly to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which is responsible for promoting military innovation. At present, the Foundation has approved a total of 53 projects, of which 31 have been working in the Foundation's laboratories.
