Teijin Receives Frost & Sullivan Automotive Carbon Fiber Composite Innovation Award

Recently, Teijin's CFRP mass production technology won Frost & Sullivan's 2011 Global Automotive Carbon Composite Innovation Award.

"Teijin's new CFRP compression molding technology provides a low-cost, high-performance replacement technology for large-scale metal structural parts of automotive white bodies." Sandeepan Mondal, Senior Research Analyst, Frost & Sullivan, commented that "significantly reduced cycle times and high economy Resin intermediate materials and high machinability provide manufacturers with a wider range of design freedom and make Teijin become a leader in automotive carbon composites.”

Teijin's innovation has resulted in a significant reduction in the molding cycle time for molded automotive body parts, less than 1 minute. The traditional CFRP uses thermosetting resin to produce the same parts, which takes at least 5 minutes, so it is difficult to adapt to the requirements of the mass production of ordinary automobiles, and can only be used in the production of high-end automobiles. Teijin eliminates a major challenge of industrial production by using thermoplastic CFRP, and brings the application of carbon fiber in the automotive industry to a whole new level.

The Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award is held once a year to showcase the industry's outstanding new products and technologies.
