According to data released by the National Development and Reform Commission on September 27, during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan Period, China’s cumulative reduction in CO2 emissions was 1.46 billion tons, CO2 emissions decreased by 14.29%, and chemical oxygen demand emissions decreased by 12.45%.

During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan†period, China’s thermal power coal consumption dropped from 370 grams of standard coal/kWh to 333 grams of standard coal/kWh, down 10.0%, and the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel fell from 694 kg of standard coal to 605 kg of standard coal. The decrease was 12.8%; the comprehensive energy consumption of cement decreased by 24.6%; the comprehensive energy consumption of ethylene decreased by 11.6%; the comprehensive energy consumption of synthetic ammonia decreased by 14.3%, and the energy efficiency level was greatly improved.
