Rio Tinto and Alcan launch a new generation of smelting technology

Rio Tinto Alcan has announced that it has begun researching a new generation of AP aluminum smelting technology. The technology, named AP-Xe, will likely significantly reduce energy consumption by 20%, while reducing environmental impact and overall economic costs.

AP-Xe will conduct research in phases and will gradually replace the current AP series components.
